Stichting Bird of Prey Trust is now the Biodiversity Conservation Foundation. While we continue to support birds of prey, our mission has broadened to focus on biodiversity conservation more widely, protecting species and habitats internationally. At the start of 2026, we plan to migrate over to our new website: biodiversityconservation.org.
The Biodiversity Conservation Foundation supports and enables initiatives and projects that promote the conservation, restoration and protection of biodiversity, with a particular focus on native species, their habitats and ecosystems.
While the Foundation has a global ambition, its primary focus is Africa, where priority landscapes and projects are chosen based on trusted local partners, available funding, and potential for high conservation impact.
To achieve our mission, we:
Fundraise to support biodiversity conservation initiatives.
Conduct ecological research and monitoring to inform conservation efforts.
Share knowledge through scientific publications and public platforms.
Support partner-led efforts for the rescue, rehabilitation and reintroduction of native species.
Develop and support initiatives that create and protect habitat benefiting biodiversity.
Support students in their biodiversity research and studies.
The Foundation advances its public-benefit mission through funding and grant-making for partners, as well as hands-on project support from our dedicated team. Donations are tax-deductible in the Netherlands. All funds are used exclusively to support our mission, including partner grants, programme strengthening, project facilitation, monitoring and evaluation, and essential administration.
The Biodiversity Conservation Foundation is governed by a volunteer board. The board members are responsible for overseeing the Foundation’s strategy, finances, and activities. Board members do not receive remuneration for their work.
