Our primary focus is supporting initiatives that promote collaborative conservation efforts of threatened species and habitats on community lands in the southern Kenya and northern Tanzania rangelands. We prioritise projects where we can work with trusted local partners and where funding can make the greatest impact.
Two key initiatives in this landscape are:
The Mara Raptor Project - East Africa’s first locally based, long-term raptor conservation and research project, located in the Greater Mara ecosystem.
The Kwenia Vulture Sanctuary: – East Africa’s first community-owned sanctuary dedicated to raptor conservation, protecting the largest breeding colony of Rüppell’s Vultures in southern Kenya.
Through these and similar initiatives, the Foundation provides financial support, project facilitation, and knowledge-sharing, helping partners to achieve tangible conservation outcomes.
We support two raptor centres in Kenya:
Naivasha Raptor Centre, operated by the Kenya Bird of Prey Trust
Soysambu Raptor Centre, at Soysambu Conservancy
Both centres are committed to restoring threatened raptor populations through rescue and rehabilitation, while delivering conservation education to inspire local communities and visitors to care about raptors. The Foundation provides both funding to strengthen these efforts.
In addition to these flagship initiatives, the Foundation provides financial support to partner organisations whose work contributes to biodiversity conservation, with a particular focus on Africa. By supporting flagship species and healthy ecosystems, we indirectly benefit a wide range of other species and habitats, amplifying our conservation impact.
